Calories get all the attention in weight-loss culture. We\’re programmed to check the nutrition label of each and every food to scope the calorie content. But the truth is, calorie counting might not be the key to weight reduction after all-and fitness influencer Lucy Mains is here to prove exactly that.
In two alongside photos of herself on Instagram, Mains shared how she had become the healthiest and strongest she\’s ever been… when you eat no less than 3000 calories each day. \”Going from the photo around the left, barely eating anything a day and not being in the best place mentally [to] the photo around the right, currently, at the best place mentally and eating 3000 calories each day,\” she wrote alongside the pictures.

Today's transformation Tuesday ???? Same pose but a different shape ???? Going from the photo on the left, barely eating anything each day and not being in the greatest place mentally ?? the photo around the right, currently at the best place mentally and eating 3000 calories a day?? I must say… THIS makes me beyond proud of myself. I've worked hard to obtain where I\’m now and I'm still working hard to get where I wish to be. Taking each day as it comes, enjoying the process and also educating myself no matter how many bad days I might have on the way. My relationship with food has got so much better through the years and I'm so glad! We should realise… meals are our friend which is our fuel ?? Can't go an automobile without fuel right? Consider us being the car and the fuel being our food! ???? Wherever you\’re currently at in your fitness journey, whether it's 30 days in or 12 months in your soul can get in which you desire to be. Just be consistent and stay with it. We discover ourselves giving up too easily when things get hard or we are not getting what we want immediately. You WILL get there ???? Good things take time and please always have confidence in yourself??
Mains admits she didn\’t also have a healthy relationship with food. In fact, there was a time when she said she was barely eating 1,000 calories each day in order to look \”thin\” and \”skinny.\” She also centered on just doing cardio and some bodyweight training. Now, however, she\’s created a much healthier relationship with food and lifts 5 or 6 times a week because that is what she enjoys doing most. (P.S. Not that we need to let you know this, but lifting weights doesn\’t cause you to less feminine.)
\”[I\’ve been] taking every day because it comes, enjoying the process and also educating myself regardless of how many bad days I may have on the way,\” she wrote. \”My relationship with food has gotten so much better through the years and i am so glad! We should realize… food is our friend and it is our fuel. Can\’t go an automobile without fuel right? Think of us being the car and the fuel being our food!\”

Mains analogy is spot on. It\’s important to remember that just because a meals are higher in calories doesn\’t invariably mean it\’s unhealthy. (Just take healthy fats as an example.) \”While calories definitely matter, they are not the only essential element for choosing foods,\” Natalie Rizzo, R.D., previously told us within the #1 Reason You Need to Stop Calorie counting.
\”Replacing high-calorie junk foods with increased nutrient-dense whole foods may help you lose weight,\” Rizzo continued. \”But whether you\’re losing weight or otherwise, nutrient-dense whole-foods are certain to help you to get and remain healthier. Remember that sometimes, for example if you are running a marathon or carrying a child, calories absolutely matter. But even just in these circumstances, the nutrients within your food are simply as crucial as the calories.\”

As you can see I'm heavier within the right hand side photo and mentally a significantly happier individual ????? – Weight training 5-6 days a week… Eating good nutritious food… Not restricting myself an excessive amount of… Enjoying the process?? – #fitfam #transformationtuesday #fitnessmotivation #fitnessjourney #strongnotskinny #gymmotivation
Mains ended her post by reminding people how important it\’s to create goals and stick to them, regardless of how long that could take. \”Wherever you are currently at in your fitness journey, be it one month or one year in, you\’re going to get in which you desire to be,\” she wrote. \”Just remain consistent and stick to it.
